Priyanka, in many ways, is the quintessential Indian mother. She’s managed to draw the perfect balance in her work and her life. She perfectly juggles all the expectations that come from living in a joint family with her work. She is @amominlove and “a mom who everybody loves”. Makes you believe in the perfect life.
But motherhood was not an easy experience for her initially. “I definitely didn’t feel like a mother when Rajveer was born. Of course, I was so happy to see him and so excited but I couldn’t feel like a mother overnight.” Her motherhood journey began with a baby who didn’t feed well, was colicky.
She also had trouble breastfeeding. “The doctor asked me to pump every half an hour and feed him. I didn’t enjoy the breastfeeding experience. It was hard on my body”. Selflessly Priyanka trudged along with her breastfeeding journey till the time her baby needed it. She thanks her family, especially her husband and her mother-in-law, who were there to support and help. These are the perks of living in a joint family!
“I’ve truly started feeling like a mother now. Where Rajveer is of an age that he calls out to me and wants my hugs and affection”. Her advice to new mothers is to keep going and don’t shy away from asking for help when you need it. It takes a village to raise a child and take all the help you can get!
